L’ORMARINS QUEEN’S PLATE 2018

1

We are still getting used to the fresh air of the new season and what a way to kick-start 2018 with glitz & glam from the 157th Queen’s Plate.

This prestige horse racing festival opens up the year for horse racing fans; fashion followers; trend setters; and connoisseurs of the finer things in life. Taking place at Kenilworth racecourse in Cape Town, the glamourous horse racing event has partnered with L’Omarins and this year was the second year running. L’Ormarins is the main wine estate in the Anthonij Rupert Wyne portfolio is situated in the Franschhoek area. Talk about connoisseurs especially the wine lovers, this is the perfect excuse to come down to the mother city to experience the finest wines from Rupert’s vineyards. As per usual the weather was bliss, with no sign of precipitation and the glasses were kept full with bubbly to keep attendees lubricated in the scotching heat.

LQP has its rich and long standing tradition of embracing the dress code and adhering to their colour scheme. The two day event taking place on Friday and Saturday saw attendees coming in numbers suited and booted in the traditional shades of blue and white. Just like the Royal Ascot in the UK, the Queen’s Plate also stresses the rules and etiquette of the day’s attire for both ladies and gents.

As exclusive as the event has been, it hosts a lot of our local celebrities who are doing it big in the entertainment industry. Although there were those “fashionistas” that still believe that rules were made to be broken, it was a pleasure to see the hip hop fraternity looking all dapperly dressed for the occasion. Let’s check out those that got the “SUITABLY APPROVED” stamp and those that broke the rules…

5

@bantublack in a navy two piece single breasted

6

@handsomengubo in a light blue three piece

7

@princethabz in a sky blue windowpane double breasted

And those were my fantastic four #suitablyapproved gents, now let’s look at those that broke the rules…

8

No matter how expensive they may be, jeans are not allowed

9

This would make a perfect wedding outfit on #OPW

10

Let’s leave shorts for the beach

11

As hot as it may have been, let’s put on our jackets and please tuck in your shirts.

And those were my flawed four gents.

Just like on the golf course some occasions do things by the book. Nothing wrong in breaking fashion rules but at least follow the theme and be suitably stylish.

Until next time, stay stylish

I love this article, it educated me about the #LQP2018, gave me sneak peak into who was wearing what and who was in attendence… I’m a busy lady, so i dont have time to read open ended blogs or news articles, but this one i could read it, inform myself, learn and I stayed interested the whole way through the article. 4. One more thing. I really believe that there are numerous travel insurance web sites of respected companies that permit you to enter your journey details and acquire you the insurance quotes. You can also purchase your international holiday insurance policy on the web by using your current credit card. Everything you need to do is usually to enter all your travel information and you can start to see the plans side-by-side. You only need to find the plan that suits your budget and needs and then use your credit card to buy them. Travel insurance online is a good way to begin looking for a trustworthy company for international holiday insurance. Thanks for giving your ideas.
